Art!

Before I got into music and playing the guitar, I was obsessed with art, and went to
The School of Visual Arts (SVA) and got a BFA degree.
So I thought it would be cool to have a page on the site dedicated
to some of my endeavors in visual art and I hope y’all dig ’em.

That’s fantastic Lea–what’s your dad’s name? I went there from 73-77. Glad you dig the art and I plan to upload a bunch more…

Very nice work Andy! You paint pictures with music and ink . Love this stuff. Have you considered doing sketches of guitars and guitarists: Looking fwd to seeing more of your art.

Thanks so much Bruce—-I don’t draw figuratively too often; when I was a teenager I was obsessed with/gtrs and would draw them constantly…

Holy smokes, Andy, ,, the drawing titled “Abstraction late 70s” is very beautiful! I’m seeing a country landscape. Any chance you’d want to sell it. It would mean alot to me to have a piece of your artwork hanging in my music room.

      Hey Charlie–
Great to hear from you and thanks so much. Glad you like the art! I like that one too; in fact, it’s on my wall! So sorry I can’t part with that one. I do have many others so I will look to see if there’s something similar, or maybe there’s another one on the art page you like. I will take a look…
      All the best to you!

Sand Formation #7 is extra gorgeous.. I noticed you mentioned Dali in the title of R. Crumb inspired #2, I’m guessing he was an inspiration for you then and maybe now. I have a couple of Dali signed pieces that I’d like to gift you if you’re interested in them. One is a signed water print of The Last Supper and his signature is a piece of art in its self. The other is just a page cut from a book of one of his paintings and he signed it with a Sharpie. As I mentioned in an email to you last week, I’ve been learning from your published instructions / videos since 1985 so I think I owe you a little thank you present,,, if you want one. Also, I should comment that the Pants collection is mind blowing. So much intricate detail. I don’t know how people can do that.

Thx Charlie–That is a very kind and generous offer–I love Dali and yes he was a huge influence on me (and everyone!) when I discovered him in the 60s when I was very young and became fascinated with art. Hieronymus Bosch too, and Bruegel. The pants drawing was crazy and was the final assignment at SVA my first year in 1973–it took two weeks; it’s framed at the top of our stairs.
The sand formations are photos I took at the beach a number of years ago–amazing!
I will look for a drawing similar to the one you like and I do appreciate your very kind offer!
