Check out this lesson on how to play the classic track, “Spanish Castle Magic,” from Jimi Hendrix’s groundbreaking second Lp, “Axis; Bold As Love.” This video comes from my instructional DVD, “How to Play the Songs of ‘Axis: Bold As Love'” available from Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Guitar-World-Play-Hendrix-Experiences/dp/B001QIVER8

This was great Andy! Now I gotta dig into this one and report back… Always wanted to learn this tune.
Awesome Dave–git on it! We can do a Skype/Zoom on it too if you like. SCM is one of my all-time favorite tunes & so much fun to play…
Andy
Looking forward to the lessons
Rt on thx Johnny–I’ll be posting new lessons pretty much every day if I can.
Andy
It always amazes me how you’re able to not only play Jimi’s stuff better than anyone, but you can even match his tone! Would love to know your rig on this. Obviously you’re using your 61 Strat and a Marshall.
This is back in 2006 so I’m not 100% sure but it’s my 1978 100-watt Super Lead thru a new 4×12 bottom & im probably using some distortion box; I used a few different ones for this DVD depending on the tune. I know I switched between a Klon, a TS-9 & a Fuzz Face but I can’t say which was in the chain for this clip…
Thanks Andy! I’ve got an Analogman Sun Face fuzz I need to dust off, and I’ve thought of getting a Fuzz Face before too.
I’m not a big “fuzz” guy but sometimes it does do the “Jimi” thing in the way you need it to…
