Legendary reggae bassist Robbie Shakespeare is one of the most important and influential instrumentalists of all time. Here is a link to an interview I did with Robbie at My Father’s Place on 9/20/86. He sadly passed away on Dec 8, 2021 at the age of 68.
The coolest guy ever and he plays a ton of very cool examples of what he learned from Family Man Aston Barrett (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aston_%22Family_Man%22_Barrett) and he discusses the development of reggae music. His work as a bassist and producer can be heard with timeless artists like Peter Tosh, Bunny Wailer, Black Uhuru, Mick Jagger, Bob Dylan, Jackson Browne, Cyndi Lauper, Joe Cocker, Yoko Ono, Serge Gainsbourg, Grace Jones, Dennis Brown, Gregory Isaacs, Sugar Minott, Augustus Pablo, and Yellowman.
